Snowdonia Infinity Pool Location a hidden gem in North Wales

Secret Infinity Pool Snowdonia

Snowdonia Infinity Pool was built back in 2016 by a farmer called Wyn Mostyn Jones. He built this infinity pool as a green energy project to provide water to the houses below. It has become hugely popular as people have flocked to see the outstanding views. I loved that it is a secluded area that not many people know about, that was until it has grown in popularity on social media.

Why is it a secret? Well, those who know the location will not tell but I can definitely help you out.

You will find this infinity pool in Snowdonia National Park. The exact location is considered a secret. As it has become popular, large gatherings have been forming around the area. If you are considering visiting this hidden gem, please leave no trace so other people can enjoy it too.

Having said this I didn’t particularly find it difficult to find – with a little help from google earth.

To get there there is a short hike to reach the Snowdonia infinity pool and you can’t see it from the road. It is quite steep as it is up a mountain but nothing too crazy. Something that I personally loved about the location of the pool is that you cannot see the Snowdonia Infinity Pool from the road. You can however see all the cars pass by from the infinity pool. I read about this place in the newspaper and found its location while hiking in Snowdonia National Park.

The farmer who built Snowdonia Infinity Pool was local to Nant Peris. You can get there from Pen Y Pass (the start of the most popular hikes to Mount Snowdon) as it is on the same stretch of road. Snowdonia Infinity Pool as had a fair few press articles which is how I first learnt about it.

Secret Infinity Pool Snowdonia Directions

If you look at mine or any other pictures of Snowdonia Infinity Pool you may see a certain type of rock on the mountains. Now I am no geologist but I used Google Earth and the picture of the rocks to find this “secret” infinity pool

When people ask me where it is it is hard for me to give them an answer. You can’t simply type in “Snowdonia Infinity Pool” in Google maps and hope that it’s there. I had a rough idea of where it was and then simply climbed and looked around.

Note: This pool is not for bathing in. There are two signs saying that tourists should not swim in the infinity pool. It is used as a water supply to the houses below and therefore should not be bathed in. See the photo below.

Snowdonia Weather

The weather in Snowdonia National Park can fluctuate throughout the year. If you are planning on hiking Snowdon perhaps after visiting the infinity pool Snowdonia note that the weather may be completely different. Also, check the weather of Mount Snowdon and the temperature will be different than that at the trailhead.

The advice I would give is if you are planning on climbing is to wrap up warm. It is always colder the higher you go. Always wear clothing that locks in the heat but also keeps you cool – this will be perfect clothing for climbing as you don’t want to be too hot or too cold.

Take in the views of Snowdonia Infinity Pool

This place is very calm and tranquil, that is if you go at a quiet time. This location has grown in popularity and it getting increasingly busy. It is a perfect spot to take in the views of Snowdonia National Park. There have been queues to get to this infinity pool in Snowdonia which is a shame. The views really are spectacular and they really take your breath away. You may decide to have some lunch but be aware that there isn’t a lot of shade around.

I did take some snacks with me and perched on a rock while I ate. I’ve had worse lunch views if I am honest. Just be aware this isn’t a “tourist” attraction and there are no toilets around.

Snowdonia Infinity Pool Parking

Parking is another issue you may have. This year North Wales has become increasingly busy and therefore very crowded, especially during the summer months. Just something to take into account if you do decide to drive to the stunning Snowdonia Infinity Pool as there may be limited parking.

In conclusion, I suggest you head there early to snap up a parking space before they all disappear. There is parking available along the Llanberis Path but it is first come first served and these get snapped up instantly, probably because it is completely free to park there.

There is also a sherpa bus that takes you around Snowdonia National Park which is something I would highly recommend. You can really have a chance to take in the views whilst you are on the bus and truly experience the beautiful scenery around Snowdonia. However, the bus does not stop near Snowdonia Infinity Pool although you will pass it on the way.
