Mrs Doubtfire Musical London Review

As soon as Mrs Doubtfire Musical was going to be in London I quickly booked tickets as it was a show I was dying to see. I personally loved the movie (of the same name) and was worried that Mrs Doubtfire the musical wasn’t going to live up to its expectations. It did not disappoint. Gabriel Vick who plays Mrs Doubtfire is a perfect Doubtfire, he is extremely talented and absolutely hilarious. His stage presence is phenomenal and a perfect cast for the title role. His accents are spot on and I belly laughed throughout the show.

The narrative is slightly different to the movie however I didn’t mind. The music was good, stand out hits were “Make Me a Woman” and “What the hell.” I would give the musical a solid 4 stars. It didn’t completely wow me but I was pleasantly surprised with the show and I am already looking to go and see it again. I went on a Wednesday matinee non holiday and it was a full house. It is currently booking until 29th September 2024 at the Shaftesbury Theatre.

Mrs Doubtfire the musical is a great family show so if you are looking for a show that is fun for everyone then look no further.

Things to know before you go

  • Matinee performances start at 2.30 and evening performances start at 7.30. Try and get to the theatre at least half an hour before so that you can find your seat, look at the merchandise or have a beverage.
  • Like most theatres, the toilets are super busy during the interval, especially for women so be prepared to wait.
  • Unlike Broadway, programmes are an additional cost in all West End productions.
  • Mini tubs of Ice creams are served during the interval, you can get these at the front of the auditorium and at the bars.
  • Depending on where you are sitting usually there is very limited leg room so try not to bring a lot of bags with you.
  • Most theatres will have a cloakroom (at an additional cost) however they sometimes do not accept large bags such as suitcases so you will need to find a locker nearby to store it for your theatre visit.
  • No hot food is allowed in the theatre.
